The other day I checked the mail and there was a letter from the school Awesome-A will be attending in a few short weeks. That’s when it really hit me… My baby is going to Kindergarten. Him going to school is not new. He went to school half-day last school years and during the extended school year (ESY) he went for the full day. It’s just that word “Kindergarten” that makes me nervous because Kindergarten is a whole new world and a whole new school with 1st through 5th graders oh my. What worries me the most is that I won’t find out who his teacher will be until 5 days before school starts and I know absolutely no faculty at this school and the majority of the students Awesome-A is familiar with are going to a different school for 5-K. This is a big transition for my big boy, but I’m sure with the proper preparation he’ll be able to adjust well.
I better get ready because Kindergarten is happening whether I’m ready or not.
In addition to a new school Awesome-A will also be going to a new place for before and after care since the school on base doesn’t have a bussing system. I’m sad he has to leave his current daycare. I love the staff and he loves going. I will also miss making one stop to pick him and Bunny up at the same time. Bunny was also my reporter. My duo looks out for each other and I am definitely going to miss popping up with they are both on the playground and seeing Awesome-A strategically place himself between Bunny and the little boy who likes to hug her. Awesome-A is the typical protective big brother.
Awesome-A may be more ready for this transition than I am, but one thing is for sure… I better get ready and quick because it’s going to happen whether I’m ready or not.
