Packing for Labor (and Delivery) Day

Hospital Bags
My beloved Purple Delsey carryon and new Navy canvas Lily Jade diaper bag

Since it’s Labor Day I figure what better day to pack my hospital bag or at least start packing my hospital bag. I’m current 30 weeks and 3 days and I know that’s pretty early for most to be packing their hospital bags, but I’m high risk for preeclampsia and I’m currently one symptom (high BP) away from going into the hospital. As a first time mom with AwesomeA I overpacked big time. I watched youtube videos and even had a checklist from the hospital and I still overpacked. Thankfully my bag was packed early because I did not get to return home which was an hour away from the hospital I delivered in after my 35 week appointment because I had preeclampsia. I was in the hospital for almost a week before I went into labor. With Bunny I delivered in a different hospital. I packed less, but I still managed to over pack. I’m delivering Baby T’challa at the same hospital so I think I have a better grasp of what I will and won’t need to pack this time around.

What I packed for me

I’ll go from the left section to the right section. Here’s the things I’ve packed:

  1. Lansinoh Breast Pads
  2. Neutrogena Makeup Remove
  3. Clean and Clear face wash
  4. Hyberbiotics  PRO-Moms (MommyCon Swag)
  5. Olay body wash
  6. Jergen’s Lotion (currently my favorite)
  7. Motherlove Birth and Baby oil (MommyCon Swag)
  8. CJ’s Butter (I love this stuff for both momma and baby)
  9. Listerine
  10. Nursing PJs and Robe
  11. Digital Camera
  12. Non-Skid Socks (eventhough the hospital supplies some these are way more comfy)
  13. Postpartum Pads from Pink Lemonade Shop
  14. Snacks
  15. Postpartum Support
  16. Makeup
  17. Going home outfit (nursing tank and yoga pants)
  18. Nursing scarf/cover

Not pictured

  1. Lilly Pads ( I ordered them but they aren’t here yet. I absolutely love these alternatives to breast pads).
  2. Toothbrush and toothpaste (I bought a travel set but I have to hunt it down).
  3. Chapstick
  4. Lanolin
  5. Lavender and Peppermint essential oils
  6. Bluetooth speaker
  7. Laptop
  8. Chargers
  9. Birth Plan

What I’m packing for Baby “TChalla”

  1. Wetbag
  2. Newborn diapers and wipes from The Honest Company (The hospital supplies these too, but I’m not sure I want to use Pampers which is what the hospital supplies)
  3.  Boogie wipes (I just like to keep these handy)
  4. Muslin swaddle clothes
  5. Muslin Burp Cloth (from my Mommycon swag)
  6. Baby Blanket (This is the blanket I draped over Aaron when he came home from the hospital and the blanket he took pictures on).
  7. Going home outfits (I have the same outfits in Preemie and Newborn. My babies tend to be on the smaller side)
  8. Onesies  (the hospital supplies these, but I thought I’d take a few anyway)
  9. Baby gowns and Sleepers (I’ll most likely be switching the sleepers out for Ergo Swaddlers since those allow for the legs to be accessed for diaper changes without unswaddling the arms.)
  10. Baby hats (MommyCon Swag)
  11. Pacifiers (I’m not sure if these will even be used, but I packed a few variations)
  12. Socks (these are the softest socks ever)
  13. Burt’s Bees Baby Quilted Coverall (You know when you go into Target and come out with like 10 things that weren’t on your list… This was on of mine. It’s so soft I just had to buy it and it fits with our mostly navy and gray theme)

Not pictured

  1. SheaMoisture Baby wash and lotion (I would like for our own products to be used for baby’s first bath).
  2. Newborn Cloth Diapers (I’m hoping to cloth diaper from day 1, but I’m not sure that they will fit).
  3. Babyganics hand sanitizer
