Fayetteville Here We Come

I’ve been gone for too long and that’s because I’ve been extra busy with school and getting prepared for our second PCS. If you follow me on Instagram you know that we finally got official orders. We were set to move to Kennewick, WA but my husband was granted a humanitarian reassignment. We’re going to North Carolina and I couldn’t be more excited and stressed out. I’m excited because we’re going to be so close to family and I’m looking forward to a fresh start somewhere new. This move will be a lifestyle change for us. I’ve spent almost 7 years being the wife of a loadmaster who’s away often and I’m going to spend the next 4 years as a recruiter’s wife.. I’m going to miss the Happy Hippos and cool trinkets from abroad, but I’m looking forward to having my husband at home.

I’m a big preparer/planner and the unknown is stressful for me because I can’t plan effectively when I don’t have all of the pieces of the puzzle. I’m stressed because we have yet to secure housing. The hubs got official orders while he was on leave and that left us with 10 days to back and move. Luckily, he was able to get the date pushed back, and in that time I researched the area, but we have yet to make a decision on housing. Another thing that I’m concerned about is Aaron. This will be a big change for him and though he’s excited about the move, I know that he loves his kindergarten teachers, the staff at the youth center and his ABA therapists and I know that they love him which is a major plus.  This move means finding new ABA, Speech and Occupational Therapy providers and a good school for Awesome A. I think speech and OT providers will be pretty easy to find, the waiting lists for services when it comes to ABA therapy are usually very long. When we found out that we were going to Washington I immediately did my research and found him an ABA Clinic. The problem is that so many kiddos are getting diagnosed with ASD and there are not enough people entering the field of ABA. With that being said, it hasn’t been hard for me to find work because there is such a great need. I’m a registered behavior technician and I’ve gotten a few offers already. So, if you’re a milspouse in need of a portable career and you want to change lives then ABA might be the field for you. (Feel free to contact me if you want more info).

All in all this move and these changes are good things. I’m looking forward to this new journey and sharing my experiences.
